Cleaning the Filter - Dishwasher
Possible Solutions
Basic Dishwasher Filter Information
Dishwashers are meant to wash and clean your dishes. With that in mind, you do not need to hand wash your dishes before placing them in the dishwasher. If dishes are cleaned prior to dishwasher use, over time, the detergent can cause a white etching on your dishes. This etching is permanent and cannot be removed. Remove residue from detergents by cleaning the interior once a month. See symptom for "Cleaning the Interior" listed above.
The best way to prepare your dishes for the dishwasher is to scrape large food particles off your dishes. Then load the dishes into the dishwasher. It is not necessary to wash or even rinse your dishes prior to putting them in the dishwasher.
If you do not have a full load, or you do not want to run it immediately, run a "Rinse and Hold" or "Rinse Only" cycle (on some models) on your dishwasher (without detergent). This keeps the dishes moist and eliminates odor build up. Run this cycle every 24 hours until you have a full load, and then run a complete cycle.
